Today Dr. Yuya Shigetomi, from Muikaichi hospital in Yoshiga town in Shimane, came to school and talked about the problems facing the healthcare system in Japan. In rural areas in Japan, hospitals are struggling to provide adequate services and to attract healthcare professionals to work there. Dr. Shigetomi talked about the current situation at Muikaichi hospital and what they are doing to solve these problems. After his speech, there were several questions from our students asking about the pros and cons of healthcare work in urban and rural areas and questions asking for advice on entering the field of healthcare.
